Structure Fire on Sugarcane

RCMP are investigating alongside both the 150 Mile Fire Department and the BC Coroners Service after a structure fire was reported on the Williams Lake Indian Band.

On Tuesday January 9, 2018, at 7:35 AM the Williams Lake RCMP were called to assist the 150 Mile Fire Department who were on scene trying to extinguish a structure fire on the reserve. The fire department battled the blaze and reported a deceased person to the RCMP.

The investigation is in its early stages. A specially trained fire investigator will be called in to assist once the scene is safe and the fire has been completely extinguished states Cst Andrew Waters, Media Relations for the Williams Lake RCMP.

At this point a clear cause of the fire is not known. Police are asking anyone who may have information regarding the fire to contact the Williams Lake RCMP at 250-392-6211 or Crime Stoppers at 1800-222-8477.

No further information will be released by police.
